ESD Protection

ESD poses a serious danger to often expensive electronic products and equipment. Even if extensive provisions have been made on the shop floor to prevent it, their usefulness remains limited if the personnel concerned have insufficient awareness of the risks and are not trained in ESD awareness and control of electrostatic charges.

ESD can damage a sensitive electronic component, resulting in failure, decreasing reliability and increasing repair costs or potential component failure in on-site equipment.

ESD can also cause failures in electronic systems. Electrostatic charge can build up a very high voltage at workplaces; even to above 10000V and examples have even been known to exceed 30kV. A simple action such as getting up from a chair can cause an increase in body voltage of 10kV.

ESD causes rapid high waveforms and skin fat (H-field) magnetism or electrostatic disturbances (E-field). These can induce or transfer voltages to nearby sensitive circuits, triggering bad data or false failures.

RBI has an extensive collection of ESD safe & Cleanroom Packaging available from stock. This allows you to work with ESD sensitive electronic components without any problems.
